Our needs for the room were a comfortable place to sit (key for me), a place for a TV, and plenty of storage. We had an extra love seat from my old house to use. For the entertainment center and shelves, we chose fine low cost Swedish furniture from Ikea. Considering that I'm convinced that anything these babies touch is going to get ruined by the time they're three, low cost is the best choice.
We found what we were looking for on the Ikea website, but shipping was something absurd like $300. After the success we had driving the babies up north, we thought a field trip to Shaumburg would be worth a shot. The babies didn't agree - there was a lot of noise coming from the back of the mini-van!
We did prove, though, that feeding babies in the van is a snap. It never fails to amaze me how easy Carolyn makes feeding two babies at once look!

We had measured our room to make sure all of the furniture we wanted to buy was going to fit. We forgot to measure the car to make sure the boxes would fit. There's nothing quite like spending 2 hours on the road, 30 minutes feeding babies in the parking lot, then 30 minutes in the store before realizing that what you just bought wouldn't fit in the van. Luckily, my friend Jay lives close to the store and took the boxes back to his house in his SUV and met me halfway later so I could bring them home.
Here's the "before" look at the room.
After, with the addition of entertainment center, love seat, and shelves:
oh my goodness. LOVE the playroom! That is so great and I totally hear ya about needing to make it comfy for YOU! Great work and love the adventure!
