Grandma's Sleigh

Well, now all we need is a reindeer! Oh, wait we have Wrigley, actually Carmen may even fit the bill, although if she is required to be out in the cold all bets are off! I'd go with Wrigs!

Auntie Ang and Uncle Eric

My sister Angela and her husband Eric came into town for Christmas, and it was wonderful! Ang had seen the girls twice but Eric had not been out to WI so it was pretty exciting to see him with his nieces for the first time! They currently live in Northern California so it is quite an effort to get to Milwaukee! There was not a moment during the holiday when one or both of them were not holding one of the babes, it is great to see the love they have for the girls! We can't thank them enough for all their help, especially with the 2:30AM feedings!  You are naturals, now how about some cousins, boys perhaps?

More Christmas Pictures

It Has Been Awhile

Well, it has been awhile since I have done the basic updates on the girls! We had a home nurse visit on Dec. 22nd for RSV shots. She also took weights and we were surprised to see how much the girls are growing. Sydney is still quite a bit heavier than Brooke and Taylor and weighed in at 7lbs 8oz. She will be out of newborn clothes in no time. Taylor was 6lbs 12oz and our peanut Brooke was 6lbs 5oz. The girls were 12 weeks old on the 26th, where has the time gone? It is pretty cool to see the changes in not only their physical being, but their awake time has increased and they do so much more. What is even crazier is to look at the pictures when they were born, they have come so far! AMAZING!!!!!!

What a Christmas!

It is hard to believe all the festivities of Christmas are over, but it sure was wonderful. Once again everyone was kind enough to come to us because of the babies. Busia, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Ang and Uncle Eric were all here both days, it was great to all be together! Christmas Eve we did my famliy's traditional Polish dinner with perogies, mushroom soup, sauerkraut and sausage and shrimp. Mary did all the baking and boy did she do a great job!  Sugar cookies, cup cakes, fudge, and various other sweets made for a real treat!

The girls were dressed as little elves thanks to adorable outfits from Holly, one of my closest friends. If the girls were put down for a minute I missed it, they got a ton of love from everyone! Since Chris's sister Beth was here for Thanksgiving she and her boyfriend Justo were not able to make it back from NY.  It sounds like they had a great time with his family in town from Bolivia!  Christmas Day was also quite a day, we started a new family tradition, Fondue.  My Mom is the fondue queen and hasn't really stopped having the unique parties since the 70s.  We started with cheese which is my favorite, then the main meal with oil, tenderloin, chicken, mushrooms, potatoes and onions.  Then the grand ending with chocolate and caramel with fruit, pound cake, pretzles, etc for dipping.  It is a long meal, with wine and great conversation it is a blast.  At one point we were recalling funny memories and I was crying.  I love that kind of laugh!  A huge thank you to everyone for making it such a special holiday!

Too Big For One Crib!

December 22 marked the day that the girls moved to the upstairs nursery and began sleeping in thier own cribs. It seemed like overnight that the girls began moving in thier sleep to a point we felt it was safer for them to be in separate cribs. The move has gone remarkably well with no issues to report, well except the toll on my thighs from going up and down :) It is a needed built in workout I guess.

Bath time with Busia and Grandma

We bathe the girls twice a week and it is an assembly line process! It takes me about a half hour to do it myself. Both Busia and Grandma have now participated in bath time which is a huge help. I get the girls all clean and then they dry, diaper, lotion and dress each girl. It works out great and the help is much appreciated! Thanks Grandma and Busia!!!!!

Both sets of grandparents have also now been "babysitters". Last week when Chris and I went out to dinner Grandma and Grandpa came over for a few hours and watched the girls. Today, Busia and Papa came over for a few hours this morning when Chris and I had an appointment downtown. The girls were very good both times. It is so wonderful to be able to leave and not be worried even a little bit. We didn't even call to check in, that is how at ease we are with our parents staying with the girls. What a great thing! Busia and Papa have also had a sleepover which helped Chris get a few more ZZZs when he had to be at work in the morning.

40 weeks

Today is my original due date, for one baby! This date is called the adjusted age for babies born early, it is the age that development is based on. So, for example, term babies reach milestones like rolling over from back to front at 2-3 months of age. Our girls should be on that track 2-3 months from today. We will see, they are pretty strong girls I wouldn't be surprised if they surprise us by doing things earlier. I am looking very forward to watching for these things, I am just amazed at the little changes we have seen since they have been home. They are throwing their heads around like crazy, so much more alert and they have found their voices, the hours of quite time are over. They are getting really big and are likely the weights of term babies at this point. Miss Sydney moved into 0-3 month onesies today! They fit her great, and it is a blessing since we find ourselves cutting more and more onesies off with frequent "blow outs"!

Oops, the missing pacifier, Found!

Last night around 1:30AM we had a surprise. We heard the girls fussing a little bit, but it was not yet feeding time so I was sort of in and out of sleep. Carmen, our chihuahua jumped on the bed and sat between us whimpering. Now she does sleep in bed so it is not out of the ordinary for her to be on the bed, however what happened next was quite funny. Since she was whimpering I put my hand out to pet her, she then placed one of the girls' pacifiers in my hand. We must have dropped it somewhere, so she went ahead and picked it up and brought it to us as if to tell us to give it to the girls to make them quite. She is a little high maintenance so the girls fussing was probably interfering with her sleep. On the other hand she may just think the pacifiers are new toys for her and she wanted to play in the middle of the night, regardless we got a good laugh out of it!
