Grandparents are GRAND!

 

Lately Brooke, Taylor and Sydney have been seeing one often two grandparents every day!  It is the best things ever for them and of course very helpful to me!  I can not express in words how amazing it is to see how much the grandparents adore these little girls.  How wonderful their lives will be with the close bonds they will have with their Grandma, Busia, Grandpa and Papa!

Constantly Changing

It is so crazy to think the girls are going to be 5 months old in a few days.  They are changing constantly!  They get bigger by the day it seems, they suddenly look really long!  I wonder where they will end up in height, I would venture to guess they will be relatively tall given that Dad is 6'2" and I am 5'8".

They have also started doing things like sucking on their fists (especially when they are hungry) and rubbing their eyes, it is so cute to them getting sleepy and rubbing away!  Sydney has also started doing this little what sounds like a fake cough.  I know that she is not sick and that is why it is so cute to hear the little cough sound, it is usually to get our attention. There are more and more smiles everyday, they stare in your eyes and seem to carry on a conversation with their coos.

Taylor Rolled Over!

Taylor rolled over for the first time today! Way to go Champ!!!!! Today she is 4 months 19 days old.   Accomplishing this major milestone is very exciting for everyone. Busia was in the room when it happened so we all celebrated. Taylor actually just looked at us like we were nuts, she had no idea what just happened.  This picture is about 2 minutes before she rolled over for the first time!

 Aunt Ang with Brooke

We had a wonderful visit with Auntie Ang this past weekend!  She couldn't believe how big the girls have gotten since she was here with Uncle Eric for Christmas.  We thought about going out to the mall on Saturday but we decided against it when the prune started working.  The last place we would want to be when that happened was in a public setting!  So, we watched the Olympics and hung out with the babies!

Ang had brought back three outfits from France for Christmas for the girls and they sure looked cute in them!  I dressed the girls in the dresses with the adorable onesies on Friday morning, Syndey was the only one who made it though the day without getting the outfit dirty with spit up.  So, thinking ahead I took some pictures so Ang could see how cute they looked!  

 

Aunt Ang also brought the girls more adorable dresses for summer and these amazing piggy banks!  She did set some rules around the bank though, the deal is that whenever someone swears they have to put a dollar into one of the banks.  So, be warned when you enter our home you will be held to this rule:)  Chris and I must be on our best behavior or we will go broke!

2oz Prune Juice = 6+ Outfit Changes

Stinky!!!!!  We made the switch from apple juice to prune juice and did it ever do the trick!  We had quick results and I am thrilled!  We were told we could give the girls 3oz twice a day to get them going.  Well, it only took 2oz once for things to get moving, I am so happy to know that this is the answer.  I have chosen not to give it everyday to prevent them going constantly, however I will keep a close eye on the situation and use it as needed.  I was surprised that the girls drank the juice, I have very clear memories of being given prune juice as a child and I would plug my nose the entire time and still had a fit trying to get it down.  As you can tell I am deeply scarred ;)

Now, what was not awesome about this whole fiasco was the number of outfit changes that occurred.  Brooke had two baths on Saturday and I lost track of who was changed how many times, but trust me it was A LOT!!!!!  (Nasty laundry and diaper genie!!!!)  Thank goodness the garbage gets picked up tomorrow.  I believe we will be the most hated pick up in the subdivision for awhile, just wait until the heat of summer!

How About Some Juice?

Sydney has started having trouble with consitpation, so the pediatrician suggested we try apple, pear or prune juice to move get things moving.  I decided on apple simply because of the taste, (now I am writing this three days later and realize I probably should have started with the prune since I had Chris pick some up after work today, the apple is not working and so we proceed...).  She has had a few rough days and it is really upsetting to see her so uncomfortable.  Grandma came to the rescue and brought over the apple juice so we could try it as soon as possible.  Mary and I were both excited to see her reaction to the taste of the juice, Sydney was much less interested in the juice than we were.  The initial trial did not go all that well, but over the last few days she really started taking the juice with no problem.  Now, I noticed Brooke and Taylor were having BMs less and less so I knew the inevitable was on the horizon, they now will be getting prune juice in the morning as well.  Keep your fingers crossed we get some natural relief around this house soon...

Sydney Goes out to Lunch

Today was a big day for me and Sydney.  It happened to be my 34th birthday (seeing that number is weird, I swear I still feel like I am 30) so I met one of my best friends for lunch.  Lisa had her daughter Ella Jane on January 25th and since she was bringing her along I decided to bring one of my daughters.  I decided on Sydney really only because she is the most chill and I though I would ease into this whole being in public with a baby thing.  I will be taking Brooke and Taylor out to lunch with me as well very soon!  We had a wonderful time with Lisa and Ella, both girls we very well behaved.  It will be a lot of fun to see my girls grow up with Ella because they will sure be seeing a lot of each other.

Chris got me the best gift ever!  He got me a Flip video recorder, it is so compact and cool, I can't wait to catch many memories on it!  Chris took this little clip of Brooke to try it out, not sure if she sneezes at the end or what but it is darn funny...

Grandma had the great idea to try the chucks on Sydney for her day out, what a great idea.  Check out how cute she looks all decked out for lunch.  For some reason having shoes on makes her look so big to me.

Valentine's Day Weekend

It was a great weekend!  Friday night my parents and Chris' parents went out to a fish fry together.  I think it is soooooo cool that they spend time together outside of being with us.  Our girls are so unbelievably lucky to have all their Grandparent so close in vicinity as well as close in friendship!  We have so many exciting years ahead and to have a family that enjoys being together will make them that much better!

Saturday night Chris and I went out for Valentine's Day.  We ventured downtown to Sanford and had an amazing meal!  Chris stated that it was the best meal of his life, pretty cool. He had the roasted duck which was darn good!  I had the tandoori spiced beef which was also excellent.  The dinner was awesome and then we were off to the Irish Pub, we met up with some friends and had a really great night out together!  The girls were with Busia and Papa and were all well behaved, they slept great and so did we!  Sunday we laid around all day and hung out with the girls.  Between the Olympics and the Daytona 500 there was plenty of entertaining TV to watch... pizza for dinner, not a bad day!  I love you Chris, Brooke, Sydney and Taylor!!!!!

A Few Updates

The girls are officially out of Newborn clothes and diapers(that has been for a few weeks now).  It is unbelievable to look at some of the sleepers that used to be so big on them and now they are too small.  I had a super fun afternoon one day last week, I went to meet another triplet Mom, Shelly.  She has three girls, a set of identical twins and one fraternal, they were also born on 10/3, but in 2007.  What a coincidence, we just had to meet because out stories were so similar, almost a little scary!  I bought a ton of clothing for my girls, we are pretty much set for the next year, another year of dressing alike, I hope you girls are ok with that.  At first when I found out I was having triplet girls I pondered if I was going to dress them alike or different.  I decided to do the "alike" thing because not only do I find it very cute, but it is so much easier for me!  Once the girls have an opinion on what they wear they can do as they please, but for now it is three of everything!  It is hard to believe how big the girls will be by summer, the clothes are so incredibly cute, it sure beats all the sleepers day in and day out around here these days.

The girls are officially out of the Halo sleep sacks with the velcro we have used to keep them swaddled at night.  We have had the girls in these since they came home from the hospital, but we decided over the weekend to give them a little more freedom.  It is so cute to see them all sprawled out, they seem a little disorganized at night and I think they may wake up more because of this change, but I know they will get used to it soon enough.  When I walk in to the room in the morning to wake them up, or should I say to get them ready for the day because they are usually quite awake, some lying quietly in their cribs, others whining and crying...I will not name any names.  This morning they were all kicking away in their little sleep sacks, it was so adorable and funny to see the little bundles moving like crazy. Just one of the many little things they do that  I have to stop and enjoy!

12 Hour Nights!

Well, it is official, the girls are not only sleeping through the night, but they are sleeping from 8:30PM until 7:45AM. Thanks in big part to the book The Baby Sleep Solution! I would highly recommend this book to anyone having a baby, it is the most specific book on sleeping I read. Chris did an amazing job of eliminating the middle of the night feeding with direction from the book. It was not easy, but he was committed and stuck with a routine that really "sucked" for two full weeks. The beauty of it is that he can now reap the benefits of uninterrupted sleep! Well, not so fast, it will probably take awhile for his body to adjust to no breaks in sleep since he has been getting up at 2:30 for the past two months. It is really amazing when babies get the coaching they need and consistency they desire how they thrive! I am a true believer in the fact that you have to teach a baby to sleep and how to soothe themselves to learn good sleeping habits. We never got into the habit of rocking them to sleep, we stuck to a strict routine, they knew what to expect in the evenings and they learned. There is not a night that they go into their cribs already asleep, they lay there watching their crib aquariums and put themselves to sleep.

We Saw the Pediatrition Today!

We got props from Dr. Patti today!  It was the 4 month check up and it went so very well!  Sydney now weighs 10lbs 10oz, Taylor is 9lbs 15oz and Brooke is a whopping 9lbs 6.5oz.  It is hard to believe how far they have come!  We will be experimenting with rice cereal, which I know nothing about, in about a month.  That should be interesting!  I foresee a lot of mess, however I think we have decided to purchase a triplet feeding table which will be awesome for everyone!   All the girls are still not even on the charts for their weight according to the 4 month graph, but judging by their adjusted age they are right on track.  Well, there was one little, or should I say large exception, Sydney's head.  She is already on the charts for head size on the 4 month graph.  She does have a big noggin, of course due to her very large brain, she can thank her Daddy for that one!

Not sure why I took this photo, but every time I look at it I laugh! Don't worry, I do not leave them face down unattended or for long, they were actually doing their daily tummy time in effort to strengthen their neck and core!  Nice round heads ladies!

Who are these girls?

I often look at the girls and wonder who they will become.  What is life going to hold for each of them?  I know they each have their own distinct personality already, but what will they experience that will form them into the women they will one day become.  One thing I can say for certain about their future is that their Mom and Dad are totally dedicated to them and will stop at nothing to enrich their world and guide them on their journey. 

Sydney:  she is our little silent sweetheart!  This little one barely makes a peep except when she needs a diaper change, is extremely hungry or needs a good burp!  Even when she does cry it is almost like she is trying her hardest not to.  Her cry really upsets me because I know there is something really bothering her when she does.  The best thing about her almost non existent cry is that it sounds to me like the roar of a little lion.  She has started to coo and it is such a sweet sound, high pitch but soft.   I think she will be the peacemaker of the trio, she will be the voice of reason when the other two are plotting against their Dad and Mom.  She has the most beautiful big baby blues. 

Taylor:  she is my smiley girl, every morning she gives lots of smiles.  I just love it.  She is a little more on the dramatic side, when she wants something she lets us know right away.  She is not a big fan of the afternoon nap and tends to fuss a lot. The thing about it is that I hear her on the monitor and go up to make sure she is okay and as soon as I step in the room she stops.  She is a little stinker.  Taylor overall I would say is the best picture taker, she is getting pretty good at looking at the camera and not closing her eyes.   In the morning when she is waking up she has such a sleepy face, it is so cute to see her stretch it out while I change her diaper and clothes.  Both she and Brooke also have gorgeous blue eyes. 
  
Brooke:  she is still the peanut of the crew but she makes up for it with her voice.  She has the most piercing cry as if her world is going to come crashing down.  Usually she is just getting a little hungry is all.  She has mastered the pout with the bottom lip out which is really cute but also makes me sad to see.  She is very dramatic, if she is sleeping on me and I move even slightly, she groans as to let me know she is being disturbed.  She also grunts as she takes her bottle, it is pretty cute, but difficult to hear the TV or anything else going on.  As she catches up to Taylor in weight it is getting more challenging to tell them apart.  Thank goodness we have identified little things that enable us to keep them straight, for now.

Brawlin'

Brooke and Taylor shared a sack in my belly.  On ultrasounds we frequently saw them "fighting", they moved a lot and with little room to move they were hitting each other constantly.  There were many times we saw one baby's face in the others bum, we also have a picture of one of them with a grasp around the others ankle.  If I had to guess I would say Brooke was grabbing Taylor.  I guess somethings will never change, and I believe this is only the beginning.

She sprouted hair on the top of her head overnight, it is sooooooo soft!

She had a good grip on the rattle for sometime, she is making strides everyday, what a doll!

She is getting more and more silly, she coos often and is going to giggle any day, I can feel it.

4 Months Old, already!

They are getting so big!  Each day they are doing new things, whether it be batting at toys in front of them, smiling more, grabbing my hair and necklace, making talking noises, focusing directly into your eyes, nuzzling into our necks or just being more and more alert for longer periods of time.  They are so much fun to watch grow and it really is unbelievable that they are already four months old!  Their personalities are starting to come about and I spend much time wondering who they will become.
