Time is passing very quickly, we even heard from the nurses last night that there is a chance the girls will be home by Thanksgiving! Wow, that would be wonderful, well except that we have a ton of things to do to get the house ready. I guess sometimes the pressure of time gets things done really quick!
The girls are all still getting caffeine which helps them remember to breathe and is given to the little ones regularly. They were getting it through their IV, but since those are long gone they are now getting it mixed in with their milk. It is a regular Starbucks there in the NICU, a shot of espresso with their meals! Now that they are at the 34 week mark they will usually begin to wean babies off the caffeine because it does increase metabolism which burns calories. They need all the calories they can get these days to grow big and strong. Dr. Shapieri said if we could get them off that soon, then it make help them to grow faster. I am a fan of that idea. All the girls seem so big these last few days, it is crazy to even think that when I pick up Sydney she feels heavy compared to Brooke and Taylor. I know it sounds crazy, but it is true, perhaps I just need to get back into the gym and work on those arm muscles :)
