On May 27th a little boy named Owen passed away after he stopped breathing in his sleep. He was 6 months old and one of three triplet boys. He also has an older brother. I do not know the family well, however I met Melissa, the Mom at a SEWMOT (South Eastern Wisconsin Mothers of Triplets) dinner back in January. I was impressed with her then because she took the time for herself to come out for dinner and chat with fellow triplet moms, and her boys were only 2 months old. She writes a beautiful blog that I have read regularly since meeting her. It is absolutely unimaginable what they are going through, but the strength and faith they have demonstrated during these last weeks has been incredibly inspiring to me. Orange was the color Owen was given, as most triplets tend to have a "color" to designate bottles, cups and sometimes even identities. Last Wednesday was the funeral and the family asked everyone to wear orange to salute their "little warrior", the actual meaning of the name Owen. I attended the wake to show support to my fellow triplet Mom, but was not able to stay for the service. From the sound of it, it was a beautiful tribute to a little guy who's story has spread like wildfire across the world. The church was a sea of orange, his story touched many a hearts near and far.

Rest in Peace Little Warrior
These pictures are the girls sporting Orange for Owen today! It is still really hard to get a good picture of the three of them together!

Such a freak accident could happen to any one of us. It makes me hug my girls tighter and remember that nothing is guaranteed (something my Busia would always say), things can change in an instant. We must not take things for granted and realize how blessed we are each and every day. I often stop and think about the risks that we faced during my pregnancy with the girls. I now sit and watch all their silly antics and am amazed how perfect they developed given the danger that they were in. We now have one more little guy to bring into this world and to get through the infant stage safely, I can't believe we are three weeks away from meeting our son! So exciting!!!
