It Has Been One Year...

...and what a year it has been! Saturday July 17th was our first anniversary, and I am amazed how quickly the first year went! Chris and I agree it was by far the very best year of our lives!!! We accomplished a lot in the first year to say the least!

Friday night we went out to celebrate while Grandma and Grandpa watched the girls. We went to Mr. B's which was delicious, minus the gnats that bombarded us as soon as the meal was served. It was great to get out together, it seemed like it had been awhile! Chris got me the most beautiful pair of diamond earrings, because he said he noticed the girls grabbing at the hoops I usually wear, and so he thought it would be nice to not have to worry about that. He is such a problem solver!!! I got him a day at the race track, he will be going very fast in a stock car for 50 laps and get to hang out with the pit crew. I know it is something he would never buy for himself and that is why it was the right gift for him! I also got this gorgeous bouquet:

On Saturday we headed down to Tinley Park, IL for a family reunion with Chris's Mom side of the family. Today, Brooke officially became a CRAWLER!!! She was up on all fours and moving. It was a great day and the girls were awesome considering they had no "real" nap and were in the car for about five hours total. Unfortunately amidst the excitement of the day I failed to take many pictures, but I did get one. This picture is with the girl's third cousins, Emily and Faith:

Sunday Chris played golf with his Dad, my parents came over for a bit to hang out for lunch and it was another HOT but great Summer day! When we were feeding the girls lunch, Sydney was sitting next to Taylor and they were staring at each other and both started to smile. This has happened before a few times, but it seems like more and more they are becoming aware of each other. It is adorable. Then, I was making bottles or something in the kitchen and Chris called me into the play room. Sydney was sitting playing with a toy, Taylor crawled over and took the toy(of course, she does that a lot, I call her the "toy snatcher") then rolled onto her back sort of in Sydney's lap and they started talking to each other. I only saw the very end of the "conversation", but Chris said they were looking at each other and Sydney started to babble to Taylor and then Taylor responded. How precious!!!

Auntie Angie is in the Netherlands for business. We did a Google video chat with her this afternoon which was super cool. We do it here and there when she is home in CA, but it is pretty amazing to me that she is on another continent and it was like we were in the same room. It is hard to imagine what technology will bring by the time the girls are old enough to use it!

We also had sort of the first "temper tantrum" at the dinner table today, if that is even possible at this age. Sydney has gotten very used to getting things done for her. She isn't really mobile so she depends on us to move her and she has started turning on the tears full speed when she wants something. Part of me feels responsible for this since for the past 7.5 months she was the patient one, always laid back about eating last, etc... we sort of started jumping when Sydney cried or needed something since it was so rare that she did. Tonight, she was hungry, so we put some cheerios in front of her, but she would rather us put the food in her mouth than to pick it up herself, so she screamed and screamed and screamed. Her sisters have figured out that when they are hungry and we put food in front of them they help themselves. We are trying to help her to help herself so that this will not continue and create a larger problem. On a much more positive note, Sydney totally loves music! When she hears it she immediately starts to shake her head (something Busia taught her) and she smiles like crazy. It is the cutest thing ever!

Just a few random thoughts from the weekend, hope you all had a great one!!!
