Trip to the Doctor for Thier 6 Month Appointment

Today the girls had their 6 month appointment with Dr. Patti!
My good friend Sue came along to help which was awesome! Dr. Patti is just astounded at how far these little girls have come. She actually said she didn't expect them to be doing this well and catching up in their growth so quickly! All three girls are now on the charts for weight, length and head size for a 6 month old! Brooke and Taylor are barely on the charts, for weight and length (5th percentile) but 25th for head circumference. Sydney, which is no surprise is a little farther along on the charts, 30th percentile for length, 5th-10th for weight and 50th for head circumference. Nice growing ladies!!!! Their weights are as follows, Brooke 12 lbs .5 oz, Taylor 12 lbs 8.5 oz and Sydney 12 lbs 13.5 oz. Oh, by the way the girls were troopers with their shots, cried for about 30 seconds form the initial poke, but that was all! Tough little girls!

Doctors report on everything was great, she suggested having them eating baby food three times a day (ugh) and possibly putting them to bed even a little earlier since they are so fussy in the evening. It may just be that they are over tired. She did notice they could use a little strengthening of their upper back and neck because when she took their hands and pulled them up into the sitting position their heads were lagging a little bit. (I guess all the tummy time is just not quite enough) We will be going to Children's Hospital follow up clinic in the next few weeks for an evaluation. This is a normal follow up for preemies and especially multiples. Dr. Patti said they will most likely do some PT with the girls and have them on an at home program to get them stronger. Then, they will be sitting in no time. She also said now is the time to start child proofing the house (WHAT????? I thought I had at least until mid Summer to even start thinking about that. I think I am trying to block out the thought of them being mobile, how will I ever keep up with them?) I guess you can never be too prepared!
