1 Year Old and Having a Blast!

So many updates lately I can hardly keep up. First, let's start with the 12 month Dr. appointment. Here are the girls' stats:

SYDNEYpan>
Weight: 19lbs 2oz (15th percentile)
Length: 30 inches (75th percentile)
Head: 46 cm (75th percentile)
(the percentiles are based on their actual age, nothing is adjusted for their prematurity)

TAYLOR
Weight: 18lbs 12.5oz (15th percentile)
Length: 28.5 inches (25th percentile)
Head: 44.8 cm (45th percentile)

BROOKE
Weight: 18lbs 5.5oz (10th percentile)
Length: 29 inches (50th percentile)
Head: 43.8 cm (20th percentile)

They are all doing new things what seems like daily!

Sydney is clapping so much and is finally getting the hands to hit hard enough to make the clapping sound! She is also saying Bye Bye, many of their toys say Bye Bye when they turn off and she recently seems to mimic it more and more. I love the way she imitates all the time. She loves the rib-bit sound that Busia makes and it takes her a bit to figure out how to do it, but she does!!! She is also starting to feed herself a ton more and doing it happily. I swear she called me Mama for the first time. She was in the middle of a screaming fit, but she reached out for me and said Mama. My heart melted! She has said it numerous times since, so I think she knows it! Yeah!! Dada is a common word around here and has been for some time, not 100% sure they make the connection. I hear a lot of it throughout the day...unless they are all calling for their Daddy all day long, ugh.

Unfortunately, Syd is having a serious case separation anxiety and she gets very unhappy when I leave the room. Unhappy...to mild of a word, she has a FIT!!! This is the age it typically starts, and thank goodness it is just a stage!

My little intellect

Syd likes to shake her bottle upside-down, awesome...

Best of all right now, Sydney is doing fantastic with her strength!!! She has only had three PT appointments, yet in the past three weeks, she has come so incredibly far!!! She is pulling with her arms and getting all over the place, we just need to get her little knees up under her and she will be on her way to crawling!!! Yeah Sydney!!!
Look at that little curl, she is still the only baby with much hair at all!

A barrette too...

Taylor is a hoot! She is super smiley pretty much all the time and is so into her toys she is adorable! She is all over everything, climbing the stairs well, walking along the furniture and even letting go and standing for a few seconds on her own. Her balance is coming!

Taylor has been a little bulldozer these days, she crawls over obstacles, her sisters, her Dad and me, any and everything in her way will not stop Taylor. She has been a little more aggressive with the toys lately too. If one of the other girls has a toy that she wants she crawls over and grabs it away. Usually the result is someone screaming. It is sort of a funny thing to watch, but I realize I need to step in and at least attempt to tell her that is not a nice way to play. She usually gives me a huge smile and laughs when I tell her not to do something.

She is also pretty enamored by the DVD player and cable box lately. We decided that we are not going to move absolutely everything out of their reach, provided it is safe, we want them to learn there are things that should not be touched. Good luck with that, right?

I have to share this story because it made us laugh. Grandma and I took the girls to their 1 year doctors appointment and they each got three shots, so sad! So, naturally they had three little band-aids(fun sparkly patterned ones) on their little legs. When we got home the girls were all playing and Taylor went over to check out Sydney's band-aids and yep you guessed it, she ripped it off her leg. As you can imagine, that did not go over well. One screaming baby, one baby who had no clue what she did was going to hurt her sister, it was sparkly and one Grandma and Mom having a good laugh about it. Lesson learned, plain brown band-aids for the time being!

She also has this hilarious laugh thing she does, check it out:

Brooke, our little peanut, is all over the place too! She likes to climb the most. I think her motivation is my phone or the remote on the couch because she has figured out how to get up on it. Hence, we moved the couch against a wall so there is no chance someone will fall over the back and break their neck. Her balance is really coming along, she stood for almost a minute today! I love seeing this!

She is also clapping and seems pretty darn proud of herself! She loves to use her fingers to flip her lip and make this adorable little noise. She also does it to my lips which is so sweet.

She, like her sister, loves the DVD player and cable box. Brooke also has her independent streak, if I put a spoonful of food to her lips and it is a chunk, she will stop the spoon and inspect the food and then take it off the spoon and feed herself. It is pretty cute! She inspects everything with her thumb, as opposed to her pointer finger like her sisters do.

This child is obsessed with buttons, zippers, necklaces and pretty much any accessory. The other day Sydney was laying on her back and Brooke crawled up to her and started playing with the button on her jeans, then she discovered Syd's belly button. She was poking it and tapping it and Syd was cracking up. These little interactions are becoming more and more frequent and it is so entertaining!!! This child LOVES books, usually in the late afternoon, she will make her way to the area of the playroom I refer to as the library. It the corner by the doors are all the books. She goes over there and literally will spend a good 30 minitues pulling them off the shelf and browsing through them!

Brooke seems to love snuggles lately. She is constantly climbing up on anyone who is available. It is really sweet to see on her way over and then comes and give a big ole hug! Love it!!!

She was knocked out on the ride home from MOPs and looks simply angelic!
